Alive Adventures has been taking hundreds of school and youth groups for an awesome day out for over 20 years! Our team are super friendly, professional and loads of fun which is why we have won ‘Best family activity provider in N.Ireland’ three times!
We have partnered with many local businesses to make your visit to Portrush as much fun as possible and as easy as possible. We can help you find the perfect accommodation, help arrange lunches and even coach hire. Do not hesitate to get in touch about anything you feel we can assist you with.

Two hours – please arrive 30 minutes before your lesson start time.
What do I bring?
A towel, swimwear and yourself!
Lesson layout
- Once you arrive someone from our wonderful team will give you a warm welcome to Alive Adventures and check you into our booking system.
- All the kids will then be fitted into one of our toasty winter wetsuits and given an Alive Adventure vest to wear on top (FYI – the zip goes at the back).
- Once the lesson starts our lead instructor will give the kids a friendly introduction to the team taking them out and delivering a very understandable safety talk as well as an assessment of the surfing conditions.
- Our team will then play a few fun and dynamic games with the kids on Portrush’s stunning West Bay Beach to liven them up.
- Once they’re warmed up and have received their board our lead instructor will provide an expertly tailored and broken-down tuition onboard handling, finding your sweet spot, prone riding and so much more.
- The kids will then continue the majority of their lessons in the ocean putting words into action with continual tuition from our team.
- We promise they’ll have a fantastic laugh and lots of memories! But be warned, surfing is extremely addictive! Parents and guardians watch out … Santa is already making lots of new surfboards for next Christmas

All of the activities at Alive Adventures can be booked using a voucher. Why not purchase one for a friend or family member to mark a special occasion. Our vouchers have no expiry date, giving you peace of mind and the flexibility of booking whenever you like. Gift vouchers can be used for surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, bodyboarding, ebike rental, kids surf camp or a private 1-2-1 lesson and are easily redeemed online.
