Located in rural County Fermanagh, 2020 Architects created a small commercial complex of nine units, in a development called Derryad Country Park. Perched on the peaceful shores of Upper Lough Erne, the brief was to create a unique tourism scheme that embodied luxury and comfort for those wishing to unwind and relax surrounded by breath-taking landscape and stunning scenery beyond. Being located on the waters edge, it was also important to provide access and moorings for those wanting to take advantage of the pristine waterway that lace their way through Fermanagh and further into Ireland.
With luxury and comfort at the forefront it was important to create a masterplan that focused on the individual needs of each home while also appreciating the challenges created by the site and the want to experience and connect with the scenery and landscape beyond.
Entering into the plan at the rear disperses the ancillary spaces and parking away from the main living spaces and allows the site to retain a more natural setting in its landscape. Entering from the front door you are drawn through the plan with a view through the well lit open plan living to the view beyond. The spacious open plan kitchen, living and dining space is seamlessly connected with the private and sheltered outdoor space that is nestled within the overall form of the building.
A natural palette of materials compliments the striking mono-pitched form of the building which has a nod to the traditional venicular.
